Belinda Emmett 1974 ~ 2006
It was very sad news on Saturday, to hear that Belinda Emmett, an actress, singer and tremendously brave soul lost her fight with cancer. Also well known as the wife of TV presenter Rove McManus, the couple shared a short, but seemingly blissful and enviable relationship during Belinda’s illness.
I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of sympathy from the public. Belinda was obviously a well loved personality, and highly regarded for the way she stoically, and publicly, fought this insidious disease.
To me Belinda was a beautiful person, whose inner radiance and beauty took over, when the disease affected her external appearance. As an actress, whose success was closely tied to her external appearance, her lack of vanity and willingness to be in the public eye, when not looking as beautiful as she once did, and I daresay not feeling great, was truly inspirational. And yet she always managed a beautiful, beaming smile.
On Saturday http://www.obits.com.au/ placed a notice for Belinda, and invited the public to send messages of condolence. The admiration and respect for Belinda is obvious. To the moment, 928 messages have been received.
I imagine there will be substantial interest in Belinda’s funeral details, and a large attendance.
